Switch on…..contact!

Guess what I did yesterday instead of working? If you guessed, “had your electrical service upgraded” then you scored 100% on the pop quiz!

Out with the old.

Old Service Panel Removed

And in with the new.

New 200A Service Panel

All-in-all the day went quite well. The two electricians showed up on time and they were both easy to work with. My new shop lights were easily powered by their little Honda generator and provided quality lighting as they replaced the panel. The rain didn’t really hurt us and in fact only helped to keep the temperature cool on this summer day which have typically been approaching 100°F in the afternoons. Not only do we have a new panel but we now have circuits for an electric clothes dryer, a future electric range and welder. Oh yes, and the new outlet for my table saw!

I have mentioned in earlier posts that learning how to wood work has been teaching me life lessons in patience. Purchasing these two new saws for my shop has also been a lesson in “delaying gratification”. I think we value things more when we’ve had to plan and work for them don’t you? From tool selection, financing, delivery logistics, assembly and space planning it has all taken many hours to get to this point. Last night about 6:30PM, I switched on my table saw for the first time. It was a simple gesture but hearing that scary growl represented the culmination of countless hours of planning and working. Life should be about taking one meaningful step after another and not about instant gratification. I am so blessed and so thankful to have finally learned this lesson.
